Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Mackenzie County installed two electric vehicle chargers with the support of the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC). One charger was installed at the recreation centre in La Crete, the other at the recreation centre in Fort Vermilion. Installing these EV charging stations in our communities is an essential step in facilitating electric vehicle usage in Northern Alberta.

Fast Charging in under 5 hours; up to 250km’s of range per hour
According to Byron Peters, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Mackenzie County, more EV chargers are needed in surrounding communities along key transportation corridors to establish a reliable network across Northern Alberta. Peters says, “It’s important to us that residents and visitors have access to EV chargers, and we are keen to do our part to build out the EV charging infrastructure in our region.”
