Mackenzie County is currently inviting applications for an Administrative Assistant position. The primary location for this position will be in Fort Vermilion, however, the individual may be required to work in other areas of the municipality as per operational requirements. This is a full-time unionized position with a 40 hour work week (8 hours per day) Monday to Friday.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Scheduling and administrative support to the Director of Finance;
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of agenda packages;
  • Maintain correspondence, lists and other documents relating to the Finance Department;
  • MasterCard reconciliations and invoice coding;
  • Assist with Finance Department advertising;
  • Filing documents in accordance with the Records Management Policy;
  • Provide support and assistance to the Taxation department, Utilities department, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable;
  • Grant writing and research;
  • Draft letters and agreements;
  • Time management skills;
  • Transcribe minutes;
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements for this position are:

  • 2-3 years related experience in an administrative position;
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs;
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and professionalism;
  • Knowledge of office administration procedures;
  • Effective interpersonal and organization skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license;
  • Evidence of successfully passing a police Criminal Record Check;

Salary Range: $48,152 – $63,898 per annum.

Mackenzie County is currently inviting applications for an Administrative Assistant position. The primary location for this position will be in La Crete, however, the individual may be required to work in other areas of the municipality as per operational requirements. This is a full-time unionized position with a 40 hour work week (8 hours per day) Monday to Friday. This is a term position which will commence immediately and end approximately September 2024.

Reporting to the Director of Planning & Agriculture, the successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Providing administrative support to the Planning & Development Department (data entry, file creation, digital filing, etc.);
  • Support the department to obtain necessary environmental approvals for County projects;
  • Create designs and maps using computer programs such as ArcView and Catalis;
  • Support the Director of Planning and Agriculture with planning and development projects by providing administrative assistance, public consultation representation, review, sharing of municipal and legislative knowledge, and the development of project plans;
  • Assisting the front counter administrative assistant with their duties when required;
  • Assisting public in completion of municipal related forms (road access, construction, dust control, utility connections & disconnections, etc.);
  • Preparing meeting agenda packages and take meeting minutes;
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements for this position are:

  • Completion of Grade 12 Diploma, post-secondary is considered an asset;
  • Two (2) years of experience in an administrative position;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint);
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and professionalism;
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally & in writing with the public and with municipal, provincial and federal agencies;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment;
  • Must be a self-starter and motivated to complete projects and tasks with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • General knowledge of the County would be an asset.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license;
  • Evidence of successfully passing a police Criminal Record Check;

Mackenzie County is currently inviting applications for two (2) Equipment Operator seasonal positions. The primary location for these positions will be in La Crete, however the individual may be required to work in other areas of the municipality as per operational requirements. This is a full-time unionized position with a 40 hour work week (8 hours per day) Monday to Friday.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Manual labour (i.e. shoveling dirt);
  • Maintenance and repair of signs, culverts, etc.;
  • Responsible for safe loading and moving of equipment;
  • The safe operation and minor maintenance of County equipment;
  • Assisting with crack-filling, pavement patching, road construction;
  • Some weekend or holiday work may be required; (Saturday & Sunday)
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements for this position are:

  • Valid Class 5 drivers’ license; Class 1 or 3 an asset;
  • Two to three years’ experience operating equipment (i.e. loader, backhoe, tractor, skid steer);
  • Moderate physical strength and stamina;
  • Mechanical knowledge of equipment would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of road maintenance;
  • Adequate verbal and written communication skills;
  • Evidence of successfully passing a police Criminal Record Check.

Wage range: $28.46/hour – $36.04/hour

Mackenzie County is currently inviting applications for an Equipment Operator II position. The primary location for this position will be in La Crete; however, the individual may be required to work in other areas of the municipality as per operational requirements. This is a full-time unionized position with a 40 hour work week (8 hours per day) Monday to Friday.

Reporting to the Public Works Supervisor (South), the successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • The safe operation of a County grader;
  • Scraping roads in an efficient manner, blading roads to proper crown, and efficiently filling in the rough sections of roads;
  • Minor grader maintenance including greasing, and changing blades;
  • Maintenance and repair of signs, culverts, etc.;
  • Assisting with crack-filling; pavement patching;
  • Some weekend or holiday work may be required (Saturday & Sunday);
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements for this position are:

  • Valid class 5 drivers’ license; class 1 or 3 an asset;
  • Two to three years’ related experience;
  • Mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment;
  • Knowledge of the Mackenzie County road network;
  • Moderate physical strength and stamina;
  • Knowledge of road maintenance;
  • Adequate verbal and written communication skills;
  • Evidence of successfully passing a police Criminal Record Check;

Wages: $31.54/hr. – $38.97/hr.

Mackenzie County is currently inviting applications for a General Maintenance Laborer – Shop Hand. This position will be based in La Crete, however, the individual may be required to work in other areas of the municipality as per operational requirements. This is a full-time unionized position with a 40 hour work week (8 hours per day) Monday to Friday.

Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with regular maintenance & repair of Mackenzie County vehicles & equipment;
  • Assist with on-site road service as required;
  • Ensure inventory is documented and stocked at all times;
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of shop, shop tools & equipment;
  • Create work orders and record all repairs in log book;
  • Assist with the pick-up & delivery of parts & supplies;
  • Communicate with the public in a professional manner;
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements for this position are:

  • Completion of Grade 12 Diploma;
  • Minimum of one year related experience;
  • Welding skills considered an asset;
  • Mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment, vehicles & small equipment considered an asset;
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision;
  • Good verbal & written communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal & organizational skills;
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license;
  • Evidence of successfully passing a police Criminal Record Check;

Salary Range: $22.70/hr. – $30.12/hr.
