The Mackenzie County Council has directed Administration to maintain regular and consistent communications and public engagement. Residents have contributed to the discussion with the Government of Alberta through formal and informal discussions with Councillors, Administration, and the Disaster Recovery Team (DRT). We will continue to provide open, accessible information in a variety of forms (website, Facebook, individual or small group meetings, printed bulletins, virtual town halls, etc.)
With COVID-19 restrictions in place, we have been meeting one-on-one to discuss individualized solutions for flood-affected residents.
Public feedback has been collected on the draft reports and flood maps from the Fort Vermilion flood study developed by the experts at the Alberta Ministry of Environment and Parks. The results of the study are currently under review. For common questions and additional information related to the study, please visit https://www.alberta.ca/fort-vermilion-flood-study-engagement.aspx.
The Disaster Recovery Team for Mackenzie County continues to work with the Alberta Government to develop mitigation plans to help prevent future flood damage to our communities.
