Expressions of Interest

Requests for EOI are being accepted for businesses or community groups for development opportunities at the Atlas gravel pit in La Crete; legal land location W1/2-4-106-16-W5M, with a parcel area of approximately 79.9 acres.

The Atlas Gravel Pit has reached its’s useful life and the County is obligated to reclaim the area.  The County would prefer the area become a place that provides value to the community and depending on the proposed redevelopment, may be able to provide funding for a portion of the development cost.

The area designated for development is located in a flood plain area, any future plans should include consideration to the type of development to mitigate any future flood damage. Please see Schedule “A” map for area of use.

Submissions should include the following information:

  • Registered “Societies” will need to be in place to operate the business development if selected.
  • Ownership, structure & affiliations
  • Contact information
  • Type of business or development
  • Business plan for developing and operating proposed activity, including schedules and timelines for construction and operational readiness.
  • Highlight the key components of how this proposal will benefit the residents of Mackenzie County.

This EOI is not a tendering process. The County will evaluate EOIs received and develop a short list of interested proponents. The submission of a proposal in response to this EOI does not constitute a legally binding agreement between the County and interested proponents.

The successful applicant(s) will be required to observe and carry out their duties in compliance with any and all legislation and/or regulations under the Municipal Government Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workers Compensation Board, Safety Codes Act, Alberta Building Codes, Alberta Health, bylaws or policies of whatever jurisdictional or regulatory authority that may govern, all of which may be amended or repealed and replaced from time to time.

Furthermore, the successful applicant(s) will be required to meet all Provincial and Municipal provisions and bylaws.
