Overview

This campground is conveniently located just off of Highway 88 on the north side of the Peace River, near the hamlet of Fort Vermilion. Please note that this campground is free to use, however there is no caretaker on site.

Hutch Lake Campground

Overview

Just north of High Level, in the shadow of Watt Mountain, lies the beautiful man-made Hutch Lake. The surrounding area is complete with trails for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter, or hiking and quadding in the summer. Our large day-use area so close to High Level makes Hutch Lake a great spot for day trips. It is just off the pavement, clean, well maintained, and all-around a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. This overnight campground is open from mid-May to September 30. Seasonal caretaker on site. Cash only.

La Crete Ferry Campground

Overview

In the Tompkins Landing Area, South of La Crete, nestled along the east bank of the Peace River you will find a historical logging site transformed into a well-maintained campground. The Campground is located next to the Ferry Landing. With beautiful views and access to the Peace River, it is the perfect spot for a getaway, family get-together, day out on the water, or an afternoon picnic. The campground is operated by the La Crete Ferry Campground Society under a lease with Mackenzie County. The campground has seen many improvements in recent years and anticipates many more. Seasonal caretaker on site. Cash only.

Machesis Lake Campground

Overview

With its beautiful remote location surrounded by Jack Pines, Spruce, and Poplar, Machesis Lake Campground makes a perfect get-away destination for all campers and nature lovers. The staff at Machesis are on-site, seasonal caretakers that ensure your stay is clean and quiet. The two docks on the lake make a great place to throw in a line or just sit and enjoy the view. Located within the campground are eight equine sites equipped with horse pens, hitching posts, and manure bins. Sandy wagon trails in this area are excellent footing for horses. This overnight campground is open from mid-May to September 30. Cash only.

Wadlin Lake is a natural lake that is home to a protected pelican nesting site. Northern Pike and Pickerel inhabit the lake, making it a popular fishing trip year-round. The ideal destination for a rustic vacation either camping or in your RV, Wadlin Lake has the perfect combination of both open and wooded sites with your choice of group spots or individual sites. Zama City Community Park and Campground

Overview

This beautiful facility is the pride and joy of the Zama community. It is located on Aspen Drive, in the heart of the residential area. Visitors and locals alike enjoy the recreational opportunities at the campground including a swimming pond with a beach area, large grassy spaces, a stocked fish pond, horseshoe pits, fire pits, picnic areas, and a large shelter with a deck. There are tons to do for people of all ages, and if you’re lucky you might even spot a couple of wild bison! Lifeguard not on duty. Long-term stays welcome.
